How did you get started with brewing beer?
A friend of mine bought a kit from Worms Way and I was very impressed with the quality of the beer. I was hooked and we turned that into opening a store and starting a club.
What is your favorite style of beer to brew and why?
Any kind of German Lager. Just because of the history of the beer. I like to brew decoction when I have time.
What is your favorite type of beer and why?
I like to brew a German Smoked Lager using 100% smoked grain and a triple decoction mash. It doesn’t get any more pure than that.
Which beer do you wish you created?
I did create a beer as far as I know. Back in 1997 I brewed an American Wheat and added Cream soda extract and called it “Cream of Wheat”. Our club served it at a beer festival and it was a very big hit among many of the other brewers.
Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
The resurgence of craft brewing is on the rise again which will hopefully add more people to the homebrewing community. Those of us who understand what beer is supposed to be need to expose as many people as possible to real beer and pull people away from the big 3. Slowly but surely we will make a difference.
